Sure Tis like Spain At Home!!

Were all melting in the heat, well I am anyway but I’m not giving out.. I swear. I’m embracing the warmth and the sunshine. The house is gone to pot but who cares. Were all outside anyway. It’s like being in Spain at home so it is. I sat on my patio the other day and I swear there was a Spanish song on the radio and for a moment I forgot where I was. Thought I was in the Costa!!!

Speaking of which I’m quare [notice how Wexford I am after 33 years!!] glad we didn’t book a holiday, sure we only go to get bit of sun and now we have it here. We have a tendency to go a bit mad when we land in a warm country, sure the heat goes to our heads!!. We quickly abandon the heavy clothes for a few skimpy bits and then we sit on the balcony and say to each other.”isin’t the heat lovely just the same!!”

And then we spend the whole time getting as much of it [sun I mean] as we can, sure we need the vitamin d in bucket loads for the Irish winters . And then we come home and we stand out a bit because we are a bit brown and people say “so where were you this year?” and sometimes they are sorry they asked because an hour later we are filling them in on a day by day account of a great holiday and all the things we did and ate and drank!!.And we love showing off our tans as we parade around the supermarket smiling a bit smugly at all the white pasty faces. id even go so far as to say we feel a bit smug.

Now all that’s gone because we all look the same…brown..some with hints of red in varying degrees but very few pasty faces and more. Now there’s no novelty in the sun holiday anymore because we are living the dream here in our own little county and we can't boast about our tans anymore because we all have one..!!

On that note a few years ago when the menopause was in full flow I became a bit obsessed with cold country’s. My poor husband found himself tagging along with me as we visited places like Prague and Budapest .

And we arrived in snow covered country’s to oohhhs and ahhhhs at the beauty of it all. The novelty of walking along in the snow was massive. And we came home and told anyone who would listen about the thick snow and how deep it was and we showed the endless photos to prove it. And then what happens, the winter of 2018 happens and we get a shit load of snow, even more than Budapest .So now that’s another novelty gone.

And on another note the novelty of foreign supermarkets is gone too because we have them all here. I’m easily pleased but I used to love going into supermarkets abroad and trying out new things and bringing home a few bits in the case. But sure, now we have it all here.

I don’t know lads, where’s the novelty factor gone !!!
