No electricity.....All is not lost!!

Ophelia! what have you done? This past week there’s only one thing on everyone’s lips, hurricane, wind damage, no electricity and for some even no water!! We got off pretty lightly ourselves, being only in the dark for one night, most of which we were asleep. Mind you going to the loo was a bit of a challenge in total darkness.

I know there's lot of you out there who are still in the dark since Monday. I know this because when I meet you, you very quickly tell me how awful it is... how you are going mad, and what a bloody miserable existence your life is . My heart really does go out to you all and it goes without saying I want to help in anyway I can . Apart from the obvious practical help I want to see if there is anything positive to be found , there has to be something in there somewhere ...lets see .

Food.

I know there's only so much crisp sandwiches you can eat, so much takeaways you can get. Speaking of crisp sandwiches , lisening to someone eating a bag of crisps in a silent house is incredibly loud and annoying. It actually could have the ability to drive you quite mad. Beware of this if you value your life.

Personal Hygene.

Important .. of course it is , not an easy one to find something positive because we all like to wash ourselves every day, but come on......how did we survive years ago. Once a week we had a bath and we didn't do to bad ! I think we are doing fierce damage to ourselves with all this washing. All our natural body cleansing mechanisms are ruined from all the gels and lotions we are obsessed with. So there you have it, less washing will have you looking better than ever.

"Wash up as far as possible, down as a far as possible....and if possible...wash possible!!"

Hair.

Anyone I've met so far, who is in the dark looks slightly different. It takes a minute to notice what it is. Okay, so you are a bit windswept, but the lack of electrical straighteners/dryers gives an overall look of how God made you, and meant you to be. So; there you have it again....great hair days ahead.!

I'm getting good at this positivity mallarkey so I'll keep going.

Complexion .

I can spot you a mile away before you even tell me about your lack of leckky!! Some of you have atttempted to apply make up in the dark.......not a great look, [I'll say no more about that.] As the days pass I see that you have given up wearing it all together. Sure, thats some holiday for your skin so it is. Tis younger looking you will be by the time the light returns . Who needs expensive spas now??

Romance .

Ahh ;good old romance, you can't beat it. I'm beginning to envy you all. Candles, open fires, board games,all sorts of games !. A natural winding down in the evening, just like the old days when people had no choice but to live by the seasons. When people had to make their own entertainment and use their imagination much more to do so..... off you go now.

House work .

Everywhere looks lovely in candlelight don't you think?. Gentle flickering flames create a magical feel to the atmosphere. Dust... what dust...dirty windows.....what dirty windows.!!! If you can't see it, it won't bother you. Enjoy the moment , you'll see it soon enough.

Reading .

A re discovery of real books, you see, real books don't need a battery. Real books don't turn themselves off in the middle of an important bit of the story. A good book by candlelight, the wind howling outside and the log fire glowing. Ahh its the simple things.

Freedom .
